Advantageous/disadvantageous of joining of Kyrgyzstan to the Customs Union

ECA Consultancy conducted analysis of the impact of joining the Customs Union onto the domestic producers of water industry and producers of nonalcoholic beverages and juices as well.

On 31.10.2013 the experts of ECA Mr. Edil Mamytbekov and Mrs. Raida Bashirova in the conference room of Park Hotel made a presentation of their research work “Study of procedures/requirements and conditions of products supply from the Kyrgyz Republic to the Customs Union members”. 

The study was conducted during July-October 2013 under the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) Program: “Promoting sustainable economic development of Kyrgyzstan": Component 2 – Value Chain of Bottled Water Industry, Value Chain of Fruits and Berries. The study has analyzed the regulatory framework of bottled water production as well as the production of soft drinks and juices based on the Customs Union regulations. Also the study demonstrated the economic analysis of benefits/risks in the supply of these products by the Kyrgyz Republic entrepreneurs and producers to the countries/members of the Customs Union (Russia and Kazakhstan). Kyrgyz water and soft drink producers, representative of Government Agencies and International Donor Organizations attended this presentation where they received answers to many questions on joining Kyrgyzstan to the Customs Union. The survey was assessed with high quality and standards by all participants.
